Despite Rep. Mary Miller Declaring June ‘Family Month’ June Will Always Be Recognized as ‘Pride Month’

We must be wary of any Republican politician who gains the fulsome endorsement of Donald Trump. The racist-in-chief endorsed Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.) a “champion of our America First Agenda” in her most recent re-election bid.

Although Miller has not gained the notoriety of such MAGA stalwarts as Laurent Boebert or Marjorie Taylor Green, she’s just as loathsome and despicable. Miller who has a penchant for quoting Hitler favorably, recently protested that “a Muslim was allowed to lead prayer in the House of Representatives.” Actually, the person who led prayer was a Sikh and not a Muslim, but she she’s not interested in showing any respect or even acknowledging any cleric who isn’t an evangelical Christian.

On Tuesday she introduced a resolution declaring June “Family Month” in a rebuke of Pride. “By recognizing June as Family Month, we reject the lie of ‘Pride’ and instead honor God’s timeless and perfect design,” she told the Daily Wire.

Despite the protests from homophobes like Miller, June is recognized as Pride Month worldwide, with many countries celebrating LGBTQ culture and achievement throughout the month.

Many biblical heroes had multiple wives, for example King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. The Bible does not explicitly forbid polygamy; would Miller consider King Solomon as her poster boy for “Family Month”?

June will always and forever be recognized as Pride Month, but gays and lesbians are not averse to celebrating families. The true meaning of family extends beyond blood and legal ties, encompassing individuals who love and support each other unconditionally. Family has many iterations: nuclear families, single-parent families, extended families, and blended families. We should celebrate families whether its two moms and children, two dads and children, or two individuals and no children.

Happy Pride Month to the diverse families that make America such a wonderful country.

Evangelical Lifeguard Sues for Being Stationed Near Pride Flag!

“An Evangelical Christian lifeguard is suing the Los Angeles County Fire Department, claiming religious discrimination after he was allegedly punished for refusing to fly an LGBT pride flag at his beachside lifeguard facility last summer.

Jeffrey Little, who has served Los Angeles County for 22 years, declined to hoist the Progress Pride flag at his lifeguard facility in Pacific Palisades at Will Rogers Beach, which includes a stretch called Ginger Rogers Beach that is frequented by the gay community.”

Little wants his employer to make an “accommodation” for him, because the pride flag at his beachside lifeguard facility offends his tender sensibilities. America is a secular, religiously and ethnically diverse democracy, and it is incumbent upon Little to accommodate himself to diverse political, religious symbols in public places.

Little works as a lifeguard in a gay-friendly beach, I wonder if he would hesitate to save a man who was drowning if he was wearing swimming trunks emblazoned with the Pride flag?

If Little wants to feel safe and comfortable then he should never leave the confines of his evangelical church, where the Christian, American and Israeli flags are proudly displayed. Little can comfort himself with the belief that the rainbow is Jehovah’s promise never to commit genocide again by drowning everyone in the world except for Noah and his family. But in the real world the rainbow-striped Pride flag is a symbol of pride for the LGBTQ community.

Cretins like Little are vastly outnumbered by multitudes of Americans, of all political and religious persuasions, who proudly fly the Pride flag. June is Pride month, and the Pride flag is proudly displayed in cities and towns all over this great country.

Burger King Austria Debuts Pride Whopper with Same-Side Bottom Buns

Businesses all over the world celebrate Pride month by featuring limited-edition rainbow-colored products. Children from nine to 91 enjoy eating rainbow-colored ice cream cones and cookies.

However, Burger King Austria is taking the concept a bit too far with its Pride Whopper, which is the same Whopper served with the same half of a bun on each side. According to Burger King Austria, the special Whopper represents equal love and equal rights.

The Whopper with two same-side bottom buns is a nod to gay men prefer to be the bottom person when engaged in anal sex.

This ad is problematic because it gives the impression that gays are obsessed with sex, and that it’s the sex act that defines them. Anal sex doesn’t define gays any more than sexual intercourse defines heterosexuals.  

Sex is wonderful and beautiful, but it’s wrong to define a person by his sexual preferences.

I believe in Burger King’s motto “Have it your way”, but for me that means extra pickles, not two bottom buns. When I’m eating a Whopper the last thing I want to think about is anal sex.

Why Do Evangelicals Hate ‘Pride Month’ So Much?

“Christian hate-peddler Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, who admitted last month that Christian warriors were ‘trying to take over the world,’ is now offering life tips to Christians on how to survive Pride Month.

In addition to his tips, though, he complained about why they were needed at all:

‘How did we get to the point where celebrating sex and transgenderism became a 30-day event that rivals Christmas. We have a president who’s flying the rainbow flag above the U.S. flag at our embassies, a Democratic Congress that thinks the military should salute pride on base, and a White House that brags that almost 1 percent of its 1,500 appointees are LGBT. You can’t blame people for wondering: When did we become identified by our sexual proclivities? The world is upside down when American pride is something we should apologize, for but sexual perversion is the stuff of parades.’”

What an ethnically, politically and religiously diverse America needs are life tips on how to survive the assault of white evangelicals on religious, ethnic, and sexual minorities. Broadcast TV, Cable TV, and the internet are littered with religious programming that demeans and demonizes the LGBTQ community.

Homophobe Tony Perkins laments the fact that an entire month is set aside to celebrate the LGBTQ community and their contributions to making America the greatest democracy in the world. Bitch please, after centuries of oppression, persecution and pogroms against gay people, the least we can do is set aside a month to revel in their awesomeness.

Evangelicals like Perkins never grow weary of peddling the trope that homosexuality is synonymous with sexual perversion. Taking pride in loving a person of the same gender isn’t a perversion, it’s an expression of freedom and acceptance.

The world is upside down when hatemongers are given a platform to preach their evil Gospel of misogyny, homophobia and racism. Perkins and his ilk are on the wrong side of history, but little by little we are turning things around and making America a more inclusive, democratic and loving country.
