Televangelist Jim Bakker Thinks God Can’t Hear Your Prayers if You’re Wearing a Mask

“How can you go to church and pray when you’re wearing a mask? Do you think God can hear your prayers through a mask?”

Televangelist Jim Bakker

Thoughts and prayers are as effectual as farts and belches in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Preachers, pundits and politicians are wasting their time imploring the Almighty to end the plague.

Influencers would be well-advised to appeal to the better angels of human beings and not the benevolence of the Supreme Being if we are to win the battle against COVID.

Mask up! Get vaccinated! Social distance! Avoid Crowds! These are simple actions that we can take to once and for all end the pandemic.

Jim Bakker has less faith in the power of the Almighty than a backslidden believer; he thinks a mask can prevent an omnipotent and omniscient from hearing prayers.

Of course, Bakker is an evangelical showman who makes a Hollywood production out of praying: Yelling his entreaties at the cameras in hopes of eliciting donations and showing off his virtuoso as a prayer warrior.

I’d rather suffer through a root canal than listen to Bakker, but if I were at public building where he was on TV preaching his tomfoolery, I would take off my mask and use it to stuff my ears.

Thoughts and Prayers Are as Effective as Passing Wind in Stopping Gun Violence

Whenever a natural or a man-made disaster strikes thoughts and prayers are offered in the hopes that the Almighty might intervene and stop the endless cycle of death and destruction.

But “acts of God “such as hurricanes and wildfires have increased in frequency and intensity due to man-made climate change, and mass shootings have increased in frequency and lethality due to our inability to pass common sense gun laws and the criminal neglect of people suffering from mental illness.

Atheists, believers and anyone with two brains cells to rub together should come to the inescapable conclusion that passing wind to put out a wildfire is as effective as praying to stop a mass shooting.

Prayers dissipate before they reach heaven and they are of little comfort to victims grieving over the death of loved ones. Windbag politicians and sanctimonious preachers should stop insulting our intelligence by reflectively offering their thoughts and prayers in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Let’s not waste our breath uttering useless thoughts and prayers and instead expend our energy and resources in tackling the intractable problems of climate change and gun violence.

Stop Gun Violence! Stop Offering Thoughts and Prayers!

Whenever there’s a mass shooting so-called “people of faith”, who hold a tighter grip on their guns than they do on their prayer beads and Bibles, litter social media with thoughts and prayers.

These thoughts and prayers are as efficacious in preventing gun violence and ameliorating its devastating consequences as a gun that emits a flag saying “BANG” when the trigger is pulled is at stopping a burglar who has broken into your home.

Faith without works is dead and offering vacuous thoughts and prayers after a massacre is an affront and an insult to the victims and to everyone who lives in fear of gun violence.

A million thoughts and prayers on Twitter aren’t worth a hill of beans, and they don’t reach heaven or even the power brokers in D.C.

With all due respect, people of faith can stuff their thoughts and prayers where the sun don’t shine. If they were serious about stopping gun violence, and if they really cared about the victims, they would weaponize their thoughts and prayers by taking on the NRA and demanding that lawmakers ban military-style firearms.

If I’m the victim of gun violence and a person offers me his thoughts and prayers I would respond as if he had intentionally farted in my face.

If we ban the phrase “thoughts and prayers” from the lexicon, religion and our democracy would be better off.

Under-attack Pope Francis Calls for ‘Silence and Prayer’! Are You Freaking Kidding Me?

“Pope Francis on Monday said `silence and prayer` were the answer to those seeking `scandal and division`, amid a barrage of attacks from ultra-conservative Catholics.

The pope has so far refused to respond to allegations made last month that he for years covered up sexual abuse allegations against a prominent US cardinal.

His comments came after Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, a former Vatican envoy to Washington, claimed in August that Francis ignored sexual abuse allegations against US cardinal Theodore McCarrick for five years.

But so far, Francis has remained silent, refusing to address the allegations and saying only that Vigano`s missive `speaks for itself`.”

I applaud Pope Francis for attempting to steer a centuries old patriarchy towards modernity, but I am aghast at his silence in the face of credible allegations that he covered up sexual abuse claims against US cardinal Theodore McCarrick for five years.

While it`s true that Vigano is a right-wing zealot who has a vendetta against Pope Francis for his compassionate stance on gays and lesbians, it`s an indisputable fact that McCarrick is a serial pedophile who should have been defrocked by the church, and imprisoned by the government, decades ago.

Now amid withering criticism not just from conservative Catholic clergy, but from Catholic laymen/women of all political persuasions, the pontiff is calling for “silence and prayer.”

Silence? Really? Are you freaking kidding me? The church has been silent for centuries as pedophile priests have systematically raped young boys, it`s only relatively recently that the church has even acknowledged that there`s a problem.

Prayers? Really? Are you freaking kidding me? With all due respect to His Holiness, he can stuff his prayers up his ass. What the millions of victims of pedophile priests need are sympathy, financial compensation and the prosecution of the reprobate priests, not thoughts and prayers.

Any Catholic who doesn`t demand that the pope break his silence and address the issue with repentance and humility is complicit in the rape of these young innocents.

‘Thoughts and Prayers’ My Ass, We Need to Take Action on Gun Violence

“A student from the Florida high school that was the scene of a mass shooting Wednesday called out U.S. President Donald Trump over his offering of `prayers and condolences.`

The student, named Sarah Chadwick, who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, responded to the president`s post on Wednesday evening, in which he wrote: `My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.`

I don`t want your condolences you fucking price of shit, my friends and teachers were shot. Multiple of my fellow classmates are dead. Do something instead of sending prayers. Prayers won`t fix this. But Gun control will prevent it from happening again.”

Global News

The default response of politicians to natural and man-made disasters is to offer their “thoughts and prayers.” After every school shooting that ends in the slaughter of innocent children, politicians offer their thoughts and prayers, twiddle their thumbs, and avoid taking any concrete action that could prevent such massacres.

If I had a dime for every time a politician extended his thoughts and prayers to a grieving community, I would be a cynical but wealthy man.

With all due respect to people of faith who believe in the efficacy of prayer, fuc* thoughts and prayers, the Almighty expects us to take action against evil.

The only time when thoughts and prayers from politicians isn`t hypocritical and cowardly is when they pray before they debate legislation that will curb gun violence.

Thoughts and prayers emanating from President Donald Trump is especially rich considering the buffoon has thoughts only for himself, and the only time he prays is when he begs God not to let him get caught when he screws a porn star or Playboy model.

Kudos to Sarah Chadwick for calling out Trump on his bullshi*, thoughts and prayers from craven politicians are like salt on a wound. Sarah no doubt welcomes thoughts and prayers from her family and friends, but the only words she wants to hear from Trump is what steps he will take to prevent gun violence.

Sarah spoke in a manner in which the vulgar steaming pile of shi* would understand; her words may offend the tender sensibilities of some but I hope they provoke action on the issue of gun violence.
