This Bible verse states that God created human beings in his own image. Actually, the opposite is true: Human beings create God in their own image.

The Bible is not a single tome, but a library of 66 books written by dozens of writers over a span of 1,500 years.

The Old Testament depicts a vengeful tribal deity who orders his chosen people, the ancient Israelites, to commit genocide and enslave their enemies.

The New Testament paints a more benign portrait of the Almighty as a deity who became man to save us from our sins. The Jesus of the Gospels preached a message of love and forgiveness, and He ministered to the downtrodden and oppressed.

The King James Authorized Bible has 783,137 words, and a person can cherry pick verses from this plethora of material to create a God after his own heart.

White evangelicals mine the Old Testament for scriptures that demonize gays and lesbians, treat women as second-class citizens and posits a theocracy as the best form of government. Their Supreme Being is an omnipotent jerk and in their version of paradise, St. Peter is the gatekeeper who lets in only white Christian evangelicals.

Evangelicals like Franklin Graham, Pat Robertson and Robert Jeffress have created a God in their own venial image. They and their judgmental, xenophobic, homophobic and misogynist Republican Jesus can fuck off.

At least 26 women have accused former president Donald Trump of varying inappropriate behavior, including allegations of sexual assault since the 1970s.

Easter Sunday is the most important day in the Christian calendar for evangelicals. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the belief on which every other Christian belief rests. The Apostle Paul said in I Corinthians I5:13:

“But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen. And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”

For an evangelical not to attend church on Easter Sunday is like a football fanatic not watching the Super Bowl when his home town team is playing.

Newsflash: Donald Trump is not a religious person. There was no place for faith in the life of the amoral sociopath who became a billionaire real estate developer by stiffing contractors, avoiding taxes and breaking promises.

During his tenure as president of the United States Donald Trump felt compelled to attend church on Easter and Christmas. After all, he had to pretend that he really believed in God.

His loyal supporters think he can do no wrong, and they believe that their Orange Messiah will be reinstated as president of the United Sates before 2024. The reinstatement of Donald Trump is more important to the them than the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Evangelicals Torment Airplane Passengers with On-board Cabin-wide Singing

Some theologians opine that elevator music will be blared in hell to add to the torment of burning forever, but I think the devious devil will play praise music.

If I was on a flight and some of the passengers walked up and down the aisle singing praise songs, I hope I would have the patience to endure the torture and file a lawsuit as soon as the plane touched down.

But I’m afraid I would probably try to open the plane’s emergency exit door or choke the nearest singing evangelical.

But Thompson, only the third January 6 defendant to opt for a jury trial, is trying to convince jurors that he was only following presidential orders and that Trump is responsible for the mob that stormed the Capitol.

The I was only “following presidential orders” didn’t work for the Nazis who gassed Jews in extermination camps, and it’s not going to work for the idiots who stormed the Capitol.

Thompson is responsible for his own actions and I hope the jury throws the book at him, and Trump is responsible for inciting the mob of insurrectionists, and I hope he will eventually face a jury.

Mehmet Oz spent years on television making questionable claims while promoting his own brand. Dr. Oz has long pushed faux alternative therapies, detoxes and cleanses and fad diets. He even touted hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID-19.

Dr. Oz medical license should be revoked, he’s a quack who doesn’t deserve to be a doctor, a senator for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or a dog catcher for that matter.

Notice Trump, in his endorsement, didn’t claim that Dr. Oz was knowledgeable, politically astute or wise, instead he praised his popularity as a TV star.

Trump claimed Oz is popular, respected and smart. Oz has world class name recognition, but he’s neither respected or particularly bright. Oz would be as good as a senator for Pennsylvania as the amoral monster Trump was president of the United States.

Trump is a sociopath, an amoral monster who has confessed that he doesn’t feel a need to ask the Almighty for forgiveness, probably because is doesn’t believe in God. But that doesn’t stop him from invoking the name of God, he’s acutely aware that sprinkling his speeches with a few mentions of Jesus gives his outrageous fabrications moral authority.

Evangelicals may worship their Orange Messiah as a deity, but in reality, he is more like the devil of the Bible. His followers feed on his lies, and that prompts him to tell even more lies, and when all is said and done, he may take the title, “The father of lies” from Satan.

Evangelicals rejoiced on May 14, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. President Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day.

Evangelicals saw the birth of the modern nation of Israel as a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, and they rejoiced as much as the Israelis.

Evangelicals mention Israel more than they do America in their sermons, editorials and written material.

Most evangelicals believe that if the Islamic Iranian regime acquires nuclear weapons, its leaders would use them to carry out their repeated threats to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth.

I also believe that Iran wouldn’t hesitate to use nuclear weapons to destroy Israel out of unbridled hatred of the Jewish people. They also believe that their End Times prophet, the Mahdi, won’t establish a new Islamic civilization until Israel is destroyed.

If Iran drops a nuclear bomb on Israel, the Holy Land will be a nuclear wasteland for a thousand years. The destruction of Israel would mean that the Bible is not true, because from Genesis to Revelation there are hundreds of promises that God will preserve the nation of Israel.

How would the evangelical cult react to such a tragedy? I predict that untold numbers would commit suicide, multitudes would become nihilists, and others would become lawless, for the only thing that keeps a lot of them in line is fear of hell. If the Bible is not true, then they reason that there is no God, no Satan, and nothing matters.

In Light of the Probability the Supreme Court Will Overturn Roe v Wade We Must Make Abortion Pills Free or Low Cost and Easily Available

During the pandemic the United Kingdom House of Commons voted in favor of an amendment to the Health and Care Bill, to make abortion pills at home rules permanent in England and Wales.

In America we have to deal not only with the coronavirus pandemic but with the pandemic of religious intolerance, racism and conspiracy theories emanating from the white evangelical movement.

The coronavirus is no respecter of persons, and it infects people of every gender, race, sexual orientation and religious affiliation. But the evangelical virus targets religious minorities, gays and lesbians, and women whom the pernicious faith regards as subservient to men.

Evangelicals seek to rob women of sovereignty over their own bodies; their holy crusade to overturn Roe v Wade may finally come to fruition when the Supreme Court rules on the matter in late spring or early summer.

In light of the dark fate awaiting Roe, we must act as if we are in a pandemic of ignorance and intolerance and educate women on how to obtain abortion pills.

Recently QAnon/Evangelical pastor Greg Locke held a meeting in his circus like tent where he frenetically paced the stage, and howled: “Spirit of molestation, spirit of abuse, get out now.” His wife chimed in: “Every spirit of homosexuality, lesbianism come out, come out. Transgenderism, gender dysphoria, come out.”

This type of buffoonery, corruption of the Gospel message and venomous hatred spewed at racial, sexual and religious minorities isn’t new to evangelicalism.

In prior generations this type of vitriol was confined, for the most part, to tiny congregations of inbred hillbillies in the Appalachian Mountains. But Locke’s meetings are live streamed online and viewed my millions.

Blatant racism, acceptance of wild conspiracy theories, xenophobia and homophobia have become more mainstream than ever before in the white evangelical movement.

According to the Stamford Advocate some parishioners “fell to the ground, pawing at cedar chips, or wretched into silver vomit buckets that had been set at the end of each row of white folding chairs.”

If you attend a church service where worshippers are speaking in tongues, rolling around in the floor and howling like monkeys, there’s something rotten in Demark. If a church feels the necessity to provide silver vomit buckets for their members, you’re not in Kansas anymore.

It’s an indictment of our educational system that in the 21st century there are so many people who believe there are witches who have the power to cast spells, and legions of demons who are possessing hapless souls left and right.

What we really need to do is cast out the spirits of racism, ignorance, homophobia, Islamophobia.

In mainline Protestant churches where gays and lesbians are loved, embraced and accepted as equals you will find none of this ignorance and nonsense.

Evangelical TV Network TBN to Launch Nightly News Show! Lord Help Us!

“The Trinity Broadcasting Network is set to launch on Monday a nightly news and analysis program that offers facts followed by Bible-backed commentary.

Called ‘Centerpoint,’ the 30-minute program was born out of a reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and the urban riots following George Floyd’s death, a network executive said. It marks a departure from TBN’s usual roster of Christian teaching and worship offerings.”

TBN, the world’s largest religious broadcaster, has a history of financial scandals, and it’s home to prosperity gospel televangelists and other charlatans who thrive financially thanks to the gullibility of their viewers.

Many of the ministries that buy time at TBN believe in the Rapture, the Prosperity Gospel, and other sundry conspiracy theories and fringe religious doctrines.

Centerpoint will “offer facts followed by Bible-backed commentary.” I suspect the “facts’ offered will be akin to Kellyanne Conway’s alternative facts.

Centerpoint promises to be a mishmash of weird evangelical doctrines and false conspiracy theories backed by Bible facts. Never mind that every Bible doctrine can be interpreted a thousand and one ways.

Centerpoint will be as far-right as Newsmax, but with the seal of approval of evangelical con artists.

Fight Homophobia! Say Gay!

On the same day that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the bill formally known as the “Parental Rights in Education Bill”, and more commonly known as “Don’t Say Gay Bill”, a new billboard went on display in Orlando that encourages people to “Say Gay.”

Conservatives accuse liberals ad nauseum of fostering a cancel culture that seeks to silence them, but in Florida it’s conservatives who are trying to cancel the LGBT community.

This innocuous sounding law prohibits Florida public school districts from encouraging classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity from kindergarten to the third grade, and parents and teachers can sue if they believe this policy has been violated.

This pernicious new law gives the impression that gender identity and sexual orientation are issues so depraved that innocent young minds must be protected from hearing about them.

It’s never to early to let children know that gays and lesbians are an important part of our community, and that’s there’s absolutely nothing wrong gay, lesbians or trans men or women.

By all means say gay, shout it from the rooftops: Gay is normal! Gay is good! I’m not a member of the LGBT community, but I have a Pride flag logo on my Twitter page to express my solidarity with them. I’m not ashamed to say Gay!

Biden: Putin Cannot Remain in Power! For God’s Sake Stay on Script, Joe!

I have been posting articles online since 1998, and more than once I have written words that were ill-advised, needlessly provocative and better left unsaid. Words are powerful, even the words of a humble blogger can cause a lot of grief and confusion.

Nobody has a greater platform than the President of the United States, as President Joe Biden is acutely aware as this quote of his proves:

“The words of a president matter. They can move markets. They can send our brave men and women to war. They can bring peace.”

They can also, as the septuagenarian president discovered on Saturday, spark a global uproar in the middle of a war involving a nuclear power.

With nine ad-libbed words at the end of the most important speech of his presidency, Biden created an international uproar:

 “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”

These words were incorrectly interpreted by some, and deliberately misinterpreted by others as a call for regime change, an incendiary demand for Russian President Vladimir Putin to be pushed out of office.

A 79-year-old president in obvious mental decline, should never, ever ad-lib. It’s political malpractice for his aides not to warn him, every day, every hour, every minute: Stick to the damn script.

Of course, the world would be better off if Putin was removed from power and he dropped dead. But Biden should keep his thoughts about regime change in Russia to himself.

This is a phenomenal rate of expansion, but perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised at the alarming infestation of churches in a city named after the Apostle Paul.

The evangelical movement in Brazil is just as reactionary and anti-science as it is in the United States. Evangelicalism is a global menace and it’s an indictment of American democracy that we export this pernicious Christian philosophy all over the world.

It’s distressing that evangelicalism has been making inroads in poor neighborhoods, the “pie in the sky” mentality discourages poor people from using political means to improve their lives since they are promised mansions in heaven.

Imagine if every six days a new medical clinic, library or school opened in Sao Paulo instead of a tax-exempt evangelical church.

Evangelicalism is an existential threat to democracy and freedom worldwide, and we must destroy it in America to keep it from infecting the rest of the world.

White Evangelicals Should Go Through Deconstruction and Come Out on the Other Side as Exvangelicals

Evangelicalism has gone so far off the rails that it’s led many thoughtful evangelicals to examine their faith to see if they should leave the fold.

When the focus of evangelicalism shifts from evangelizing (preaching the Good News that Jesus saves) to an obsession with fringe beliefs it becomes incumbent upon evangelicals to take stock of where they stand in relation to spirituality, morality and common decency.

Treating a sociopath like Donald Trump as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, believing that a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles runs the world, and demonizing Muslims and other religious minorities has more in common with weird cults than with orthodox Christianity.

Evangelicals who are so sickened by the racism, misogyny, homophobia and outright craziness that permeates their faith that they abandon evangelicalism to become orthodox Christians, mainline Protestants or even atheists and agnostics are referred to as exvangelicals, and the process that they went through is referred to as deconstruction.

I urge every evangelical to go through the process of deconstruction, it doesn’t matter if you come out on the other side as a mainline Protestant, Catholic, atheist or agnostic, you will become a better person and more Christ-like.

White Evangelical Leaders Make Pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to Kiss Trump’s Butt

Mar-a-Lago is the spiritual center, the Mecca of the Republican Party and most GOP candidates who are running in the mid-term elections have made a pilgrimage to Trump’s opulent mansion to kiss his ring and hopefully walk away with his endorsement.

Almost every politician needs Trump’s endorsement, but as the undisputed leader of his party, and thanks to the undying devotion and loyalty of his base he doesn’t need the affirmation of any subordinate, and he considers every Republican politician his inferior.

However, Trump can’t survive without the endorsement of white evangelical leaders; he needs them more than they need him. He caters to his evangelical base by using a Bible as a phot-op prop, occasionally attending an evangelical megachurch and sprinkling a few “God Bless America” in his speeches.

Last Friday Trump summoned a few of the usual evangelical suspects (Paula White, James Dobson, Ralph Reed, Jack Graham) to Mar-a-Lago to keep them in his good graces.

In private conversations with his kind of people (businessmen, celebrities, billionaires) he mocks evangelicals, he loathes their stupidity and gullibility.

But Trump realizes his needs the useful idiots and he tolerates their company.

I’m eagerly anticipating the inevitable nasty divorce when Trump loses in 2024 and no longer needs the disgusting evangelicals.

Evangelicals Weren’t Duped by Trump! The Racist, Homophobic Moron is an Answer to Their Prayers

Robert Jeffress is correct in stating that evangelicals haven’t been duped by former President Donald Trump, but that isn’t proof that evangelicals are not morons.  

They are morons, science-denying, Kool-Aid swallowing, conspiracy believing morons.

They weren’t duped by Trump, they knew exactly what they were getting: a moral degenerate who shares their racist, xenophobic, homophobic and misogynist views.

They realize that he’s probably never read a single page of the Bible, and attends church only on Christmas and Easter. Although if Trump knew that the Old Testament was chockful of incest, rape, murder, genocide and adultery, he might be tempted to crack it open every once in a while.

Evangelicals knew exactly what they were getting in Trump: a sociopath messiah for a heartless age who is on a mission from God to establish a Christian white nationalist regime.

Trump embraces policies that are in keeping with the white nationalist Republican Party, and he is the perfect messiah for white evangelicals, and the perfect presidential candidate for Republicans.

Pat Robertson Claims Biden Intimidated by Putin’s Nuclear Threats

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert for the first time since the end of the Cold War.

Putin has been issuing nuclear threats because he was surprised by the strength and unity of the US and NATO response, and the effectiveness of crippling sanctions.

Putin’s ill-conceived invasion of Ukraine has been an unmitigated disaster, he expected a three- or four-day blitzkrieg victory, but it has devolved into a bloody stalemate that has claimed the lives of about seven thousand Russian soldiers.  

With no quick victory on the horizon, Putin has resorted to nuclear threats to ward off NATO from supplying planes to Ukraine or establishing a no-fly zone. A defeat in Ukraine would severely threaten Putin’s hold on power.

We shouldn’t dismiss Putin’s nuclear threats as nothing more than bluster, in Syria, Chechnya and now in Ukraine he’s demonstrated that he has no regard for human life, and he might resort to nuclear weapons to guarantee victory.

I’m glad Pat Robertson isn’t a presidential advisor, because he’s a freaking moron suffering from dementia. Russia may only be the 11th greatest economy in the world, and its military may be in disarray, but it has the number one nuclear arsenal in the world.

It’s imperative that we take seriously any nuclear threat emanating from Russia.

Robertson is right that America has the firepower to wipe out every Russian city with just one Trident submarine, but Russia also has the firepower to wipe out every American city.

It is the height of irresponsibly for any nuclear power to threaten use of nuclear weapons. Biden should never make any nuclear threats, but at the same time we should make it crystal clear to Putin that we won’t give in to nuclear intimidation and that we will defend every inch of NATO territory.

If Trump Runs in 2024 a Blow-up Doll Would be a Perfect Running Mate, But He Will Probably Choose Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz or Tim Scott

Donald Trump, the twice-impeached, two-time loser in the presidential popular vote has been hinting that he’s going to run for president again in 2024.

Trump finds it impossible to ignore the spotlight, and what better way to become relevant again and make headlines than by running for president?

Barring an unforeseen illness, he will run again, the only question is: Who’s going to be his running mate?

I can tell you who it’s not going to be: Mike Pence. Trump has never forgiven Pence for refusing to overturn the election results during the counting of the Electoral College votes on January 6, 2021. Neither has his base who would rather hang him than endorse him as Trump’s running mate.

A blow-up doll would make the perfect vice president for Trump for the following reasons: It doesn’t have a backbone; it’s an ideal sex companion for when Melania has a headache, and she aways has a headache; and it’s impervious to his violent mood swings and childish behavior.

That would be a real fun ticket, but it’s not going to happen. So, who will it be:

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott can always be counted on to stand by his side with his Uncle Tom smile and subservient demeanor. He would always be at the ready to shine his shoes, change his diapers, and blow-dry his urine-colored hair.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz would be another excellent choice. Trump knows that he can make fun of his homely wife, accuse his father of dastardly deeds and impregnate his young daughter and retain his loyalty and devotion.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be the dream ticket, he’s wildly popular with MAGA loyalists, but on the down side he has a smidgen of integrity and he isn’t as willing to debase himself as Scott or Cruz.

If Trump is willing to choose someone who won’t be a total pushover, he will make DeSantis his running mate.

The Bible as Oklahoma’s ‘Official State Book’ is an Abomination

“A legislative proposal to anoint the Bible as Oklahoma’s “official state book” is not only unconstitutional, it is also an affront to true religious freedom.

House Bill 3890, introduced by Rep. Tammy Townley, has been given the OK by a House committee. If the bill receives legislative approval, the Bible would be designated the state’s official book from Nov. 1 of this year.”

I have no problem if a Christian denomination designates the Bible as their official book, but for a state of a secular democracy to anoint it as their “official state book” is anathema.

We must protect the sacred principle of separation of church and state to safeguard our democracy from Christian nationalists who seek to make it a theocracy.

These same religious fanatics who are in favor of making the Bible the official book of Oklahoma would have a cow if the Koran or the Satanic Bible became their state’s official book.

A holy book that condones and even regulates slavery, relegates women to a secondary status, and promotes genocide doesn’t deserve to be exalted by any state’s legislative body.

Christians in Oklahoma can call the Bible the inspired and infallible Word of God, and they can center their church and their personal lives around the Scripture, but they shouldn’t try to insert it in the political process.

White Evangelicals Love Dictators, Racists, and Conspiracy Theorists

“Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are.”

What this proverb means is that your friends are a reflection of who you are. You tend to associate with people who share similar views and outlook on life.

The individuals that you look up to are also a solid indication of your character, or lack thereof.

White evangelicals stan some very shady characters, revealing that they are lovers of moral degenerates more than they are followers of Jesus Christ.

Donald Trump is the most vulgar, ignorant, petty, authoritarian and vicious president in American history, and yet evangelicals treat him like the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Vladimir Putin is a dictator who has committed genocide against Syrians, Chechens and now Ukrainians, and yet he enjoys the praise of many evangelicals who view him as a Christian leader who is a steadfast warrior against the sin of homosexuality. Some evangelicals even believe that the reason he invaded Ukraine was to free the country from pedophiles. Franklin Graham praised Putin effusively and called Russia’s standard on morality “higher than our own.”

Besides being lovers of the execrable Trump and Putin, evangelicals pal around with white nationalists, QAnon cultists, and garden variety racists.
