In the Midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic Trump Returns to the Campaign Trail

Donald Trump filed for reelection the day he was inaugurated, and from the first day of his administration his focus has been on his reelection. Trump is unencumbered trying to fulfill an ideological agenda, the amoral charlatan’s only agenda is his reelection.

As John Bolton’s memoir so vividly illustrates Trump will do anything to ensure his reelection, including seeking the help of dictators and betraying the interests of America.

Trump is eager to get back on the campaign trail, he enjoys campaigning more than he does being president. It’s manifestly evident that he is totally incompetent, unqualified, and ineffectual at being commander-in-chief, but he’s an excellent campaigner.

Trump is frustrated beyond belief he has been unable to hit the campaign trail because of the coronavirus pandemic. He tried to turn his daily coronavirus press briefings into MAGA-style campaign events, until his advice to ingest disinfectants to combat the virus blew up in his face.

America is still in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Trump is so desperate that he’s holding a massive rally in Tulsa, Okla., at a time when the coronavirus infections there are rising steeply.

To hold an indoor rally where social distancing is impossible, and Trump’s supporters won’t be wearing masks and screaming their fool head’s off is scientifically foolish, legally criminal, and ethically immoral.

Trump doesn’t care about the health of his supporters and he isn’t interested in flattening the curve, his sole imperative is to be reelected.

The social unrest following the murder of George Floyd, the coronavirus pandemic and the tanking of our economy has forced Trump of center stage, and his outrageous tweets aren’t enough to keep the spotlight on him.

So, Trump is resuming his MAGA rallies, and his base is thrilled to bask in the presence of their false messiah once again. But the interconnected crises gripping the country have changed the political landscape, and Trump’s utter disregard for flattening the curve and disinterest in uniting the country will embolden Democrats to turn out to vote and Independents to turn against him.
