Big Brother is Watching

Anyone can legally film you without your permission or consent in a public place. When you are out in a public space, such as a public street, sidewalk, or city park, you have no “reasonable expectation of privacy.”

With doorbell and surveillance cameras now everywhere, it is nearly impossible to walk down a street in any city, large or small, without being recorded many times.

That studious looking gentleman seating in the bar stool next to you might be wearing a camera built directly into the frame of his glasses, videotaping you as you gulp one shot after another.

The moment you step outside, your own Ring camera may record you, and cameras at stores, banks, and restaurants will likely do the same. This is the reality of modern life, and we have to accept it.

Therefore, we must always look sharp, not do anything shady, and behave as if Big Brother was walking by your side.

Before the digital age, people could sometimes get away with stealing a neighbor’s newspaper, failing to pick up after their dog on a well-kept lawn, or urinating in an alley. Not anymore—because cameras are everywhere, you are much more likely to be caught.

Welcome to the 21st century: Big Brother is watching. So, behave yourself, or someone may record you acting like a Karen.
