We celebrate Valentine’s Day on the most frigid month of the year, because when old man winter has us in its icy embrace only the appreciation and celebration of human love can thaw our hearts.

But in February, the month of love, we also celebrate and commemorate the love between humans and their pets. Today is National Love Your Pet Day, but for real animal lovers every day is love your pet day.

Almost every household in America has at least one pet, that means that this day should be recognized and observed by as many people who observe Christmas or New Year’s Day.

National Love Your Pet Day, could very well unofficially be called National Call in Sick Day, because anyone who truly loves their pets will want to spend the entire day with them.

I’m retired and I spend every day pampering and catering to my precious pooch, Princess. Today will only be different because I will use my blog to encourage pet lovers everywhere to shower their pets with love and devotion.
