“About a quarter of American Evangelicals say they have spoken in tongues at some point in their life, even though a majority don’t identify as either Pentecostal or Charismatic Christians, according to a new study.”

Glossolalia or speaking in tongues used to be associated with congregations comprised of inbred hillbillies in Appalachia who also have a penchant for handling snakes, drinking strychnine and rolling down the church aisles.
But now the controversial ritual is also common in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches not only in rural areas and the inner city, but also in middle class and upscale neighborhoods.
In fact, a quarter of American Evangelicals from all denominations say they have spoken in tongues at some point in their life.
The devout speak in tongues when they are “filled with the Spirt” otherwise known as being in a self-induced trance. Although there are some congregants who speak in tongues, otherwise known as speaking gibberish, just to fit in.
If millions of American evangelicals speak gibberish when filled with the Spirit is it any wonder that they spew batshit crazy conspiracy theories that amount to nothing more than gibberish under the thrall of their Lord and Savior Donald Trump?
