Trump Meets Mexico’s President and Doesn’t Bring Up the Subject of the Wall

Building a wall from coast to coast on our border with Mexico was Trump’s most consequential 2016 campaign promise and the defining issue of the first three years of his presidency. Trump not only promised that he, the master real estate developer would build the wall, but also that he the master negotiator would somehow cajole or intimidate Mexico to pay for it.

Trump has abjectly failed to build the wall and to have Mexico pay for it:

“On December 17, 2019, acting Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan stated that 93 miles of barriers has been built during the Trump administration; according to CBP figures, at least 90 miles of that replaced existing structures.”

Trump has given up on his outlandish promise, evidenced by the fact that when he hosted Mexico’s recently elected President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at the White House for the first time on Wednesday, he didn’t remind him that Mexico has yet to pay a dime towards his vanity project.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said the subject didn’t come up when she was in the room. I’m not surprised, Trump didn’t want to risk having the Mexican leader tell him in no uncertain terms that Mexico wouldn’t pay for the damn wall.

Let’s not forget that Obrador’s predecessor, Enrique Peña Nieto, indignantly tweeted back in 2018:

Mexico will NEVER pay for a wall. Not now, not ever.”

Trump has less than a year left to wreak havoc, and I’m sorry to disappoint his racist base, but he’s not going to build the damn wall. In fact, he has replaced his fixation with the wall with an obsession with protecting Confederate monuments.

Donald Trump’s Wall is a Symbol and Manifestation of Evil Incarnate

Stable Genius

Trump`s mantra and rallying cry during the 2016 presidential campaign was “I will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it.” It was a perfect metaphor and slogan designed to appeal to Trump`s racist white evangelical base.

Trump`s mythical wall crystalized the xenophobia, racism and bigotry of his base into a tangible and concrete object. When his supporters chant “Build the Wall” they are thinking to themselves: Deport those wetbacks! Stop spics and niggers from invading our homeland!

Trump`s base doesn`t know geopolitics from a prayer cloth, and they assumed that it would be a piece of cake for their Messiah to hoodwink the Mexican president into paying from his damn wall.

In 1626, a Dutch trader, Peter Minuit, purchased the island of Manhattan for the equivalent of $24 worth of beads and trinkets, so why couldn`t the art of the deal businessman con the ignorant Mexicans into paying for his vanity project?

It`s now become obvious to even the most deluded Trump supporters that Mexico isn`t paying for the damn wall, but such is their hatred of everyone who isn`t white that they will gladly pay for the abomination with their taxes.

Trump himself has become the manifestation of the wall, his supporters perceive him as a bulwark against godless abortionists, activist liberal judges, disease-ridden criminal immigrants, feminists and secular scientists.

To quote Martin Luther King Jr, “Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” The MAGA crowd is terrified of this universal march toward justice where white people will no longer be at the top of the pecking order, and they see Trump as their last Great White Hope.

Fortunately, Trump and his sycophants are fighting a losing battle against demographics, democracy, and the innate desire of people for justice and liberty.

The wall will never be built, but every day that Trump remains in power he erodes our constitutional democracy, he must be impeached and removed from power now rather than later.

Donald Trump Says Mexico Will ‘Absolutely’ Pay for Wall

“President Donald Trump is still insisting that he wants Mexico to pay for the wall he wants to erect on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Sitting next to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto at the G-20 summit in Germany, Trump told reporters Friday that he “absolutely” wants Mexico to fund the barrier. The pair made comments ahead of a bilateral meeting that included Trump`s top economic advisors.

Trump`s statement about the wall came in response to shouted questions from reporters after the leaders made statements, so it is unclear if Pena Nieto responded specifically to Trump`s wall comment.”

CNBC

During the election whenever Donald Trump wanted to elicit an enthusiastic response from a crowd he would promise to erect a wall between Mexico and the United States, and he would insist that Mexico would pay for it.

Since his election, every once in a while, Trump still makes perfunctory remarks about building the wall, but he has bigger fish to fry, namely trying to get his execrable health plan passed and dealing with all the Russia-related scandals.

Even his base knows that there`s a snowball`s chance in hell that the wall will be built, and and even slimmer chance that it will be financed by Mexico.

Mexico will erect a three inch phallic monument in honor of Trump before they pay for the damn wall. Trump is expending zero energy trying to get the wall built, but he doesn`t like admitting mistakes, and so he still pretends he`s serious about building it.

Trump should give up his pipe dream of building the wall, and focus on renegotiating NAFTA with the Mexican president.
